ASSEMBLYMAN CASTELLI TO
HOST INFORMATIVE FILM ON GAS DRILLING
AND THE DANGERS OF HYDROFRACKING
Assemblyman Robert J. Castelli (R, C, I-Goldens Bridge) is hosting a viewing of “Gasland,” a documentary about the natural gas industry on Wednesday, September 15th in the courtroom at Bedford Town Hall. Prior to the screening, Assemblyman Castelli will be joined by speakers from the Sierra Club and Citizens Campaign for the Environment.
Assemblyman Castelli noted the documentary reveals the consequences of natural gas drilling across the United States. Much of the recent expansion of drilling has been spurred by the increase in deep well hydrofracking, a practice that threatens to open up the Marcellus Shale in central New York to large-scale industrial drilling practices.
Assemblyman Castelli is hosting the film to inform the public about some of the impacts that hydrofracking may bring to New York’s communities and all those interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP.
