Making Sure Our Voices are Heard: Fundraiser for chair of the NYS Energy Committee Sunday, July 14, Lewisboro

Amy Paulin is truly a special “politician.” You will not only be supporting KatonahGreen, and of course Amy, when you come—you will be supporting a great addition to state leadership and you’ll be making a big difference for the state:

Amy Paulin, in her fifth term representing the 8th New York State Assembly District, is now Chair of the Energy Committee and in a powerful position to help guide the State’s approach to environmental protection and clean energy. Her emerging body of work in the Energy field builds on her previous leadership positions in areas such as children and families, alcoholism and drug abuse prevention and intervention, and support of people with disabilities.

Amy’s record is one of across the aisle collaboration, coupled with a strong progressive commitment. That combination has allowed her to pass more legislation than 97% of her colleagues. Now, with energy, she’s just getting started!

Sunday, July 14th

Film Screening: Dear Governor Cuomo, Friday, May 3, South Salem

Environmental Film Series: “Dear Governor Cuomo”

Film and Discussion!

Speakers:

The filmmaker, Jon Bowermaster, will speak after the film! He is a noted oceans expert, award-winning journalist, author, filmmaker, adventurer and six-time grantee of the National Geographic Expeditions Council.

Local political representatives (present and former) who have worked to oppose fracking: Peter Harckham, Bob Castelli and David Buchwald will be on hand to answer questions about how to get effectively proactive in this issue.

The Lewisboro Library's series of environmental-themed films with discussions continues. "Dear Governor Cuomo" documents the response to the news that Governor Andrew Cuomo might lift the four-year moratorium against hydraulic fracturing (fracking) in New York state.

A concert/protest was organized on his doorstep in the state capitol of Albany, an event that brought together scientists, musicians, activists and actors in a scripted night onstage inviting the governor to join the anti-fracking majority in his home state. The film is equal parts message and music.

Special Announcement to Katonah Green Readers: Fresh Local Organic Produce Buyer's Club

Doug DeCandia from Digger's East Farmstand at the Ryder Farm

Interested in buying farm fresh produce and in the process supporting local agriculture?

I am forming a sort of "buyers club" - one in which I send out a weekly, or bi-weekly, e-mail with what we will have available for that week - and you write back with what you would like and when you can pick it up at the farm.

Interested, here is how I am thinking this can work:
- I send out an email at the beginning of the week with what we have available
- you write me back with what you would like and when you can pick it up (I would like to provide you with the freshest of produce, so if you can tell me at least a day in advance I can harvest within the day, and hopefully that day)
***PLEASE INCLUDE IN SUBJECT LINE - "Produce Order - and your pickup day"***
- pickup will be at the farm, or we can work out another arrangement on an individual basis.
- if you can call me before you come - it would best so that I can be sure to meet you.

Thank you all so very much for your support. I am very excited for this.

- Doug DeCandia
