Boni-Bel Organic Farm Store Opening, Sat., April 18th, Brewster

A new store, with a focus on healthy living and sustainable agriculture, is opening in Brewster on Saturday, April 18, and there’s a special twist that makes it unique! It’s a vocational and educational program for students at Green Chimneys. Whether shopping for organic or fresh produce or looking for a special hand-crafted gift from the Hudson Valley, the Green Chimneys Country Store and Vocational Learning Center at Boni-Bel Farm will meet the needs of the community while offering students a chance to develop life skills and vocational training.

“The Country Store and Vocational Learning Center is dedicated to building a greater sense of community through its seasonal offerings of organic and fresh produce, cut flowers, and handicrafts — all raised, grown or manufactured by children and staff of Green Chimneys and or local community artisans and farms,” says Kim Pratt Lawrence, director of public programs. “The store will give students an opportunity to learn about working in a retail setting while fostering interaction with the community. The Country Store will offer a full calendar of events and activities, bringing neighbors together and highlighting the rich diversity of talents that our children and the organizations in the area have to offer.”

In the future, the Country Store will offer a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), special events, educational events, tours and demonstrations of everything from maple syrup making and flower arranging to beekeeping and candle making. Educational outreach programs involving sustainable agriculture will also be offered at the site.

At Boni-Bel farm, located on Doansburg Road in Brewster, Green Chimneys operates an organic garden, a maple sugar shack, a fruit orchard, Christmas tree sales and the Country Store. The Country Store will be open Tuesday through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Just look for the “open” flag flying outside the building or call us at (845) 278-2060.

Hi!
I am thrilled to hear of an organic farm store opening in Brewster. I live close by [Fieldstone Pond] and this location will be very convenient for me. I have been eating organic and health foods for almost 40 years. I am also an artist/craftsperson.
I'm impressed with the program for young people at Green Chimneys; this will be a great expansion of the programs you offer and a great boon for the community as well.
Good luck to all!
