Sustainability and Wellness Fair, Saturday, May 22, 10-2

The Katonah-Lewisboro School District to Host
Third Annual Sustainability and Wellness Fair May 22, 2010

The Third Annual Katonah-Lewisboro School District Sustainability and Wellness Fair will be held, rain or shine, at the John Jay High School on Saturday, May 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For the first time, a free Run/Walk for Wellness will be held, with registration at 9:00 in the high school gym lobby, and the Run/Walk beginning at 9:30 a.m. in front of the high school gym. The John Jay Booster Club and district are sponsoring the choice of two courses: the first will be approximately a mile on pavement for families with strollers, and the other will be about 2.5 miles, including both a paved and unpaved route.

The Fair is a celebration of the community commitment to promote health, wellness and sustainability, which the district promotes through policies, curriculum connections, and partnerships. A fun and interesting day is planned, with exhibits and events designed to appeal to every member of the family. Students in each of the six district schools will share their awareness of sustainability and wellness in the form of projects, performances and learning opportunities.

Scheduled events include:
• Run/Walk for Wellness, sponsored by KLSD/John Jay Booster Club (9:30 AM)
• Tour the “new & improved” JJHS Fitness Center
• Enjoy the Saturday Farmer's Market
• Westchester County’s Veggie Van, Department of Health, and Safe Routes to School
